Mr. Piper discusses the upcoming bond election with parents at Central Elementary School

On October 7th, Interim Superintendent Randy Piper met with parents and staff at Central Elementary to discuss the upcoming Bond election. During the meeting, it was clarified that the approval of the Bond would not result in a tax increase.

Several potential projects were presented, including the construction of a new high school and middle school. Parents voiced concerns about past Bond elections and how funds were previously allocated. In response, Cobre Consolidated Schools emphasized its commitment to full transparency, ensuring the community is kept informed about all projects and expenditures.

Superintendent Piper also shared that Cobre High School is currently ranked as the 17th worst school facility in the state, while Snell Middle School is ranked 67th. Both buildings are in serious need of updates, particularly due to outdated mechanical systems, for which replacement parts are increasingly difficult to obtain.

The District believes that students in the Mining District deserve safe, modern, and functional learning environments.

Parents, staff, and community members are strongly encouraged to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming election. For any questions or additional information, please contact the District Office at 575-537-4010 or email rpiper@cobreschools.org.
