The Cobre Consolidated School District Board of Education invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Interim Superintendent of Schools where “Our Community Empowers Tomorrow’s Innovators, Leaders and Thinkers”.
Job Title and Term: Interim Superintendent for the 25-26 school year, not to exceed June 30, 2026 and less if a qualified Superintendent is found before the end of the contract term.
About Us: Cobre Consolidated School District is nestled in Bayard, New Mexico with a population of 2064 located 18 miles from Silver City. The school District comprises the following schools: 4 elementary, 1 middle and 1 secondary, serving approximately 1000 students.
The Board is seeking an experienced superintendent who will keep the District on a positive direction, leading the education of the District’s students/families and providing support to its faculty and staff. Further the interim superintendent is charged with maintaining the effective day-to-day operations of the school district in compliance with all relevant statutes, regulations and policies while addressing Board priorities in the areas of human resources and budget/finance.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Master’s degree in educational leadership
• Holds Educational Administrative Licensure in New Mexico
• Three years successful experience as a Superintendent
Preferred Qualifications and Attributes:
• Hands on experience supervising Human Resources and School Business/ Finance
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Effective use of technology
• Maintains open and effective communication with various internal and external constituent groups
• Track record of effective and positive working relationships with their board of education
• Seasoned administrator who is comfortable taking on a short-term position
