Due to the January 12 water closure, Cobre HS and Snell MS will hold an Instructional Recovery Day to make up missed instructional time as required by NMPED.
Students will follow a modified schedule (see flyer below).

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our music teacher Mr. Aaron Lewis, band teacher Mr. Clayton Raichel and Mariachi teacher Mrs. Damaris Sanders for sharing their love of music with our students each and every day.Their passion, dedication, and enthusiasm inspire creativity, build confidence, and foster a lifelong appreciation for the arts. Through their guidance, students not only develop musical skills but also learn the value of teamwork, discipline, and self-expression. We are truly grateful for the positive impact they make in our school community.

In anticipation of possible snow in the area the National Weather Service has issued
two Winter Weather Advisories for Grant County.
The first is for the Southern Gila Region, Black Range and Lake Roberts areas from
5:00 PM today to 5:00 AM Friday. The NWS is predicting the possibility of 3 to 6 inches
of snow in these areas with wind gusts up to 45 mph.
The second Winter Weather Advisory is for Silver City, Fort Bayard, Hurley, Airport and
Faywood areas from 6:00 PM Thursday to 5:00 AM Friday. The NWS is predicting the
possibility of 1 to 3 inches of snow in these areas with wind gusts up to 30 mph.
At this time, we do not anticipate any changes for Thursday, as conditions are not
expected to deteriorate until later in the evening.
I will be in contact with the transportation department, principals and county officials
over the next couple of days. We will notify staff parents via Thrill Share, local radio,
Facebook and KOAT news. We will make the decision on delay, or cancellation as early
as possible.
In the event there is a cancellation the missed day will be made up on next Friday, the
16th of January.
Student and staff safety are our priority. Please keep an eye on the weather and if any
updates to the advisories are issued, I will keep you posted.

Due to an outbreak of Covid, Cobre School District is moving to remote learning for the entire District Wednesday and Thursday and have janitorial staff do a deep cleaning over the next 2 days to avoid a more severe outbreak and hopefully allow staff and students to heal over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
