Cobre High School Schedule Update — Beginning September 8
Cobre High School is excited to announce an adjustment to our daily schedule beginning September 8. This change came from listening to our school community, including strong advocacy from both our students and staff. Their voices helped us identify ways we can better support our students while also strengthening our sense of community at Cobre High School.
One of the biggest changes will be a dedicated Breakfast & Morning Check-In built into our school day. This will provide every student an opportunity to eat breakfast. This time will also be a continuation of our instructional day and will be used for important announcements, attendance, student check-ins, academic support, and opportunities for students and staff to connect.
What will our new schedule look like?
Mondays & Wednesdays will remain our Advisory Days. We will continue to have two lunch/advisory rotations, similar to the lunch schedule we currently use. 11th and 12th graders will attend Advisory first and then lunch, while 9th and 10th graders will have lunch first and then Advisory. This allows us to continue using Advisory intentionally to support our students academically, socially, and as they prepare for life beyond high school.
Tuesdays & Thursdays will be our Regular Days. On these days, the entire school will have lunch together. We see this as another opportunity to bring our students and staff together, build relationships, collaborate, and simply spend time together as one school community.
These changes are about more than adjusting times on a bell schedule. We want to create opportunities throughout the day for students to eat, connect, communicate, receive support, and feel like they belong.
At Cobre High School, we talk a lot about being a family—and that is what this is about: being a family. Families listen to one another, advocate for one another, spend time together, and continue working to make things better.

We are proud to officially share the newly selected vision and mission for Cobre High School!
This process began with our Leadership Team, which worked collaboratively to develop options reflecting our traditions, priorities, Graduate Profile, and hopes for the future.
Those options were then presented to our stakeholders—including students, staff, parents, guardians, and community members—for a final vote.
We received 174 responses, and our students represented the majority of participants at 75.3%. Their strong participation ensured that student voice played a central role in selecting the future direction of our school.

After a two-year absence from the Red or Green Volleyball Tournament in Hatch, the Cobre High School Lady Indians returned and made an impact. The Lady Indians competed with confidence, determination, and great team chemistry throughout the tournament, finishing on top as the 2026 Red or Green Volleyball
Tournament Champions with an impressive championship victory over Belen.
This championship was earned through the collective effort of the entire Lady Indians team. From the first serve to the final point, they competed together and represented Cobre High School with pride. These ladies all contributed to the team’s success, and their hard work, dedication, and commitment brought home the championship.
A special recognition goes to these athletes for their outstanding individual accomplishments throughout the tournament: Sami Huerta — Tournament MVP Avery Castro — All-Tournament Team Isis Dominguez — All-Tournament Team
Their honors are a reflection of the effort and excellence they displayed while helping lead the Lady Indians to the tournament championship. We are proud to celebrate these accomplishments alongside the success of the entire team.

Dear Cobre Schools Families,
On Thursday, August 27, Cobre Consolidated Schools will welcome Stand for the Silent to speak with our students about bullying, kindness, empathy, and the impact our words and actions can have on others.
We want families to be informed ahead of time because this is a powerful presentation that addresses important and, at times, difficult topics. The presentation includes direct discussion of bullying, suicide, and young people who have lost their lives to suicide.
Because of the sensitive nature of these topics, if you choose for your child not to participate in the presentation, an opt-out form will be available and provided to your student to take home. Please complete and return the form to the school prior to the presentation. Students who are opted out will be provided an alternative supervised setting during the presentation.
Stand for the Silent grew from the story of Kirk and Laura Smalley and their 11-year-old son, Ty, who lost his life following years of bullying. Their story became the foundation for a program focused on helping young people understand the real consequences of bullying and developing empathy through education and understanding.
While the presentation addresses serious subjects, its message is ultimately one of hope, responsibility, empathy, and action. Students are challenged to think about how they treat others, to stand up when someone is being mistreated, and to recognize their own value and the value of those around them.
At the heart of the program is a simple but powerful message:
I AM SOMEBODY.
Students are encouraged to respect themselves and others, help those who may be struggling, stand against bullying, and understand that they have the ability to make a positive difference.
We encourage parents and guardians to talk with their child following the presentation. Ask them what they heard, what stood out to them, and how the message may influence the way they treat and support others.
At Cobre Consolidated Schools, we want every student to know that they matter, they belong, and they have the ability to make a difference in someone else's life.
Our words matter. Our actions matter. How we treat one another matters. And every student is somebody.

Our Cobre Cross Country team opened the season this past weekend at the Silver Invitational in Fort Bayard, and our Indians came ready to compete!
Several of our athletes posted personal records and put together strong performances in our first meet of the season. We like to recognize our top performers:

53–0. The Cobre Indians football team came to play last night ! 🏈🖤❤️
The defense was flying around, creating takeaways and keeping McCurdy out of the end zone, while the offense moved the ball, found the end zone, and kept the pressure on all night. The team brought the ENERGY, the physicality, and the fight—and tonight, we proved that Cobre belongs under the Friday night lights! This is a different team from a year ago!
And what a night in the stands! 📣 Our cheerleaders brought the spirit showing why they are the 2x state champs, the band showed their pride, and Cobre family showed up loud and proud! It was everything a Friday night football game should be.
A special shoutout to our Cobre Volleyball team as well. ❤️🖤 They battled yesterday on the road, and although the result wasn’t what they wanted, they still have plenty of season ahead of them. Traveling, competing, and representing Cobre takes commitment—and we are proud of them for continuing to fight and represent our school! As always they will prove their resiliency!
