The Cobre High School Key Club is having a bake sale during breakfast and lunch next Thursday May 1, 2025 at Cobre High School. Proceeds will go to the Shepard family.

The Bayard Public Library is excited to celebrate National Poetry Month with special programming featuring acclaimed New Mexico poet Michelle Otero. The event is co-sponsored by Southwest Word Fiesta and LULAC Silver City Council 8003. Community members of all ages are invited to participate in engaging poetry workshops and an open mic event, fostering creativity and self-expression.
Teen Poetry Workshop – Friday, April 25 at 10 AM
Teens are invited to explore the power of words in a dynamic poetry workshop led by Michelle Otero. This session will provide young writers with the tools to express themselves through poetry, offering guidance and inspiration from an experienced poet.

Poetry Workshop for All Ages & Open Mic – Saturday, April 26
Join us for a day of poetry and community at the Bayard Public Library. This all-ages poetry workshop, beginning at 10 AM, welcomes participants of all skill levels to learn and create under the direction of Michelle Otero. Following the workshop, attendees
are invited to enjoy a free enchilada lunch provided by LULAC Silver City Council 8003 and then share their poetry at an Open Mic at 1 PM. This is a wonderful opportunity for poets and poetry lovers to connect, celebrate language, and showcase their work in a supportive environment.

The Cobre High School NHD group is selling pulled pork sandwich plates on Saturday, May 3 from 11 am to 2 pm at the CHS Cafeteria and Softball Field to raise money for their trip to nationals on June 3 in Washington D.C. Each plate will be $10. You can buy tickets from NHD members or buy the day of. Thank you for your help in supporting this great group!

This past weekend, Cobre’s SkillsUSA team participated in the state SkillsUSA competitions. We had groups in Crime Scene Investigation (CSI), Photography, Welding, Early Childhood Education, Community Service, and First Aid CPR. Our CSI group of students even went on to win 2nd place in the competition! Great job! Huge shoutout to all our SkillsUSA community partners, including the Grant County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Team, for all their help in preparing our students for state and in helping teach these students valuable skills in various careers!

Next Wednesday, the Cobre High School Indian Pride Band is hosting their Annual Cobre Band Festival! The Festival is open to the community. We hope to see you there!!

Congratulations to these Cobre High School students who had perfect attendance and no tarides this last quarter! They will be receiving a Steak Lunch on April 1, 2025 as a reward!

It's almost that time of year again! The Cobre Consolidated Elementary Schools will be hosting Pre-K and Kindergarden registration for next school year (25-26) on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 from 8am - 6pm. For more information, see attached flyer!

SkillsUSA had a training from the Grant County Sheriff’s Crime Scene Investigation Team all day today, in preparation for State. They head up to Albuquerque this Wednesday for their State Competition.
